Welcome to the FQA Home Page (archived NOVEMBER 2017)

The Fellowship of Quakers in the Arts has as its purpose “to nurture and showcase the literary, visual, musical, and performing arts within the Religious Society of Friends, for purposes of Quaker expression, ministry, witness, and outreach. To these ends, we will offer spiritual, practical, and financial support as way opens.”

Another FQA show is over and was a success…

The Tri-Quarter Camp Ockanickon FQA Art Show in Medford, NJ ! Thank YOU so much for everyone who showed, helped and attended! We had 10 visual artists, 3 musicians and a poet perform. Artists sold total of $258, with 6 artists selling items. But more important than that were the renewed and new friendships made among the whispering Pines. We look forward to next year’s weekend show, to be Sept. 28-30, 2018.

FQA’s theme for our national FQA Project of 2018 is….The Art of Diversity

The hope and idea of our FQA inspiration for art events in May of 2018 is not only to have art representing and making us think about diversity in our relationships/communities/etc, but to reach out to artists different from ourselves, whether that be in age, ethnicity, race, gender-id, disability, etc.

We can also think of diversity as in “diversity of the earth”, celebrating the diversity we find here on this planet in not only people, but nature.   Thinking about this  now will give ourselves time to reach out to some folks we have not before(perhaps going to their events, especially if in the art realm, but to get to know them more in general. ) Invite folks in groups in which you are not familiar to participate in the Diversity program at your locale, whether showing art, singing a song or participating in a discussion. The art of diversity should be more than a one day event in different parts of our nation but another way of healing our divides.

The Art of Fearlessness

FQA  thanks  all  who  coordinated,  volunteered,   performed,  showed and attended our national project “The Art of Fearlessness” throughout May this year.  New friendships were made and old acquaintances rekindled,   thought on the role fear plays in our lives was inspired  and new art created !  We hope to repeat such an “experiment” in the future –  theme ideas welcome….
